In 2007, he made the bold decision to transition his personal practice online and begin offering his services to a national clientele. After persevering through a few early years of extreme struggle and frustration, he finally cracked the code for closing large cases over the phone/internet, and in 2009 broke the 7 figure revenue threshold through a combination of his unique laddered annuity strategies and AUM planning techniques…all while working predominately part-time hours per week.
The experience and step-by-step approach that he has now perfected over the past 10 years has resulted in a time-tested, proven system for quickly and easily converting prospective clients right over the phone…sight unseen!
His average new client case size is $896,000 in assets, his largest annuity case from a single internet planning transaction was $4.5 million and his largest production month overall was just over $7.5 million…again, all done completely virtual through the phone and internet. Paul founded Advisor Training Systems, LLC, because he is passionate about sharing his sales approach, planning strategies, and virtual financial advisory practice system with other financial professionals.

Paul's virtual practice gives him the freedom to split his residency between his homes in Raleigh, North Carolina and Denver, Colorado.
In his free time, Paul enjoys maintaining an exotic reptile collection and is still an avid ice hockey player.
John Hughes started his sales career with New York Life where he quickly rose to General Agent status in his 14 year tenure with the company in Cherry Hill, NJ.
After leaving NYL, John moved to Louisville, KY to head an annuity marketing department within a bank lobby distribution model for a large insurance holding company. In 1986, he founded a sales and management training firm in Louisville, where he built one of the premier sales training firms in the midwest.
John's results-oriented business and sales development process is something that he has excelled in as a professional coach, mentor, trainer and consultant for over 25 years now and has personally influenced the success of many financial service professionals.
John and his wife, Debbie, reside in Louisville, KY, where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. John is also an accomplished blues guitarist and is a 4th degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate.
Jolee brings 17 years of executive experience to Advisor Training Systems, LLC with her extensive background in accounting, administration, and operations.
Responsible for the day to day operations of ATS, LLC, Jolee excels in her role of keeping the ATS systems running efficiently and supporting the business's growth and development. The infrastructure she helps maintain is pivotal in allowing the company to expand it's services and offerings to more and more advisors around the country.
She resides in Erie, Colorado with her two children. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, hunting, and is becoming quite the accomplished archer.
Leslie, Paul's wife, joined Advisor Training Systems in early 2020 to assist with our ever-expanding membership of advisor consulting clients.
Leslie brings extensive management and marketing experience to the table after spending the last 7 years in a top level management position in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Her passion for service and client care is reflected in her amazing work ethic, as she currently enjoys assisting our advisors with their digital marketing funnels & campaigns, as well as providing technical support and administrative assistance to the many lead generation platforms that we manage for our team of advisors nationwide.
She is an avid runner and hiker, and enjoys the outdoors.
Madison, Paul’s daughter, is our newest team member. After graduating two years early from high school at age 16, Madison started her own photography and digital marketing business and has spent the last several years enjoying explosive growth in both of those endeavors.
She joined the ATS team to provide support with digital marketing projects, and specifically lends her experience in funnel building, web design, and video production to our growing list of advisors who are in the process of moving their own businesses into the virtual advisory space.
Madison is responsible for most of the customization of advisor Learning Center Micro Sites as well as the white labeling and formatting of the the consumer educational content that our advisors use within their digital marketing campaigns.
In her free time, Madison enjoys working out and spending time with her 95lb husky/shepherd mix, Asher.
She is also pursuing her insurance license as well as her first financial planning designation as a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor.
